Breckenridge Post 53 rallied from a 3-2 deficit to beat Pelican Rapids 8-4 on Friday to finish unbeaten in Minnesota Lakes Conference play.
Breckenridge finished the regular season 16-4 and will be the No. 1 seed for the Northwest South Sub-State tournament July 16-18 in Ulen. Post 53 will open the double-elimination tournament against with winner of Pelican Rapids-Ada at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Post 53 scored four times in the fifth inning against Pelican Rapids to take control of Friday’s game. The first three batters in the fifth were hit by pitches before Brayden Wahl walked to drive in a run. Cooper Yaggie reached on a bunt single to score Cam Nieto and Chris Nieto drove in a run with the sacrifice fly.
Yaggie had three of Post 53’s six hits and drove in three runs.
Jace Werner, the second of three Breckenridge pitchers, got the win, giving up two runs on three hits.
