
In a battle of the top two teams in the East Region, Wahpeton Post 20 swept the West Fargo Aces by scores of 8-2 and 6-3 at John Randall Field.
Wahpeton took the lead in the first game with a pair of runs in the third and after West Fargo got a run of their own, Post 20 stretched the lead with two three-run innings in the fifth and sixth.
Isaac Loosmore had the big bat with an RBI on each of his three hits in the opener.
Caden Hockert surrendered a hit, a run and two walks while fanning five batters in five innings. Ethan Manock finished off the final two innings.
Post 20 scored in each of the first four innings to pick up their win in the nightcap. Two West Fargo errors turned into two Wahpeton runs in the first inning and Caden Kappes had an RBI triple in the second inning to make it a 3-3 game.
Post 20 got the go-ahead run in the third when Isaac Loosmore scored on a passed ball. Manock followed that up by stealing home in the same inning and the final run scored when Hunter Wamre wore a pitch with the bases loaded.
Jayden King picked up the win on the mound, giving up five hits, three walks and two earned runs in five innings. Loosmore came in to finish the final two innings, striking out three batters while not allowing any hits.
Wahpeton takes their 21-2 record and 13-game winning streak into the annual Fourth of July Border Battle with Breckenridge Post 53 at John Randall Field. First pitch set for 8 p.m.
