Wahpeton sweeps Blues to remain in first place in East Region

The Wahpeton American Legion baseball team rallied from a 6-2 deficit against the Grand Forks Blues in the first game Wednesday for a 7-6 win, then beat the Blues 5-1 in the second game to give the team 13 straight wins on the season.
Wahpeton is 11-1 in league play and 19-2 overall.
Post 20 trailed 6-2 heading to the seventh inning before rallying to win in the opener.
The first run scored on a hit batter. Two more runs scored on a wild pitch and an error on the same play. Wahpeton then took the lead when Ethan Manock scored Gavin Schroeder on a single.
Hunter Wamre had two hits as Wahpeton totaled nine in the game from eight different batters.
Tori Uhlich got the win in relief of Caden Kappes with two innings of shutout baseball.
Wahpeton won the second game with two runs in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Schroeder had three hits while Jackson Fliflet drove in two runs.
Uhlich also got the win in the second game, working 6 1/3 innings and allowing one run on six hits.
Wahpeton returns home to host the West Fargo Aces on Thursday in a doubleheader at John Randall Field beginning at 5:30 p.m.
