The Southern Valley Special Response Team were forced to enter a Wahpeton residence after reports of a disturbance Friday morning and once they entered the building they found an adult female and an adult male deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Wahpeton Police Department and Richland County Sheriff’s officers responded to the residence after a female victim reported being threatened by a male subject with a firearm on Friday.

Officers arrived to the call at 2:30 a.m. and attempted to make contact with the occupants of the residence when a gunshot was heard from inside. Additional attempts to make contact with the occupants were also unsuccessful and the SEMCA team was activated.

No additional information regarding the incident is being released at this time of the ongoing investigation. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Breckenridge Police Department provided assistance to the Wahpeton Police Department and Richland County Sheriff’s Office throughout the course of the incident.
