
The Wahpeton golf team fell short of qualifying for the state meet, finishing eighth out of 10 teams in the East Region Tournament hosted at King’s Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks.
Grand Forks Red River won the region with a six-over-par 294.
Bridger Hansen, the lone Huskie moving on to the state meet, shot a 79 on the day. The highlight of his meet was a birdie on the 17th hole.
Avery Rugland followed with an 81 in what was his last competition as a Wahpeton golfer. It was also the final meet for Bjorn Kubela and Tanner Thiel, who finshed with 85 and 92, respectively.
Bjorn Birkelo and Jackson Clooten rounded out the Huskies’ scores with 91 and 98, respectively.
Hansen goes back to work with the state meet hosted at Hawktree Golf Course in Bismarck on June 8 and 9.
