Wahpeton sophomore Ethan Manock, seeded 15th out of 16 throwers coming in, bested his top throw this season by 19 feet to place third in the boys discus event Friday at the N.D. Class A State Track and Field Championships at the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck.

Manock’s top throw during the season was 135 feet.

He hit a throw of 154 feet, 5 inches during the preliminary round to enter the finals in third place.

None of the top throwers were able to better their marks in the finals.

Bismarck Century senior Lane Grant won at 163 feet and Jamestown’s Thomas Allmer second at 157-9.

Manock was the only East Region discus thrower to finish in the top eight with Century taking five of the top eight spots.
