The Breckenridge baseball team secured a home sweep against the Hawley Nuggets by scores of 3-2 and 11-0 on Thursday.

The Nuggets took a 2-0 run in the first inning of game one and then were held scoreless the rest of the doubleheader.

All three of the Cowboys’ runs came in the fourth inning. After Alex Sanchez ripped an RBI single to get Breckenridge on the board, the tying run and the go-ahead run both came in on an error by the Hawley shortstop.

Connor Twidwell tossed all seven innings for the win, giving up seven hits while striking out three.

A pair of pitchers contributed to the shutout win in the nightcap, holding the Nuggets to four hits on the night.

The Cowboys’ bats caught fire in game two, ripping 18 hits. A whopping eight players had at least two hits in the Breckenridge batting order with Cooper Yaggie and Chris Nieto each notching three hits. Two of Yaggie’s hits were doubles.
