The Wahpeton track teams took part in the Joan Halland Classic hosted at Kindred High School on Tuesday.

The Huskies finished fourth out of the 19 teams with 57.5 points. Kindred dominated their home meet with 146.5 points. Hillsboro/Central-Valley was the next closest team with 85.5 points.

The Lady Huskies took eighth out of 19 teams with 39 points. Central Cass won the girls meet with 107.5 points.

Despite stumbling on a hurdle, Jacob Bartels advanced to the state meet in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.42, which was good enough for a second-place finish. He also took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.74.

Ethan Manock was also a second-place finisher, throwing the javelin 155 feet and 4 inches.

Quinn Bassingthwaite was the top finisher for the Lady Huskies, taking second in pole vault, clearing 8 feet 6 inches.

Drew Frolek won the 800-meter run for Wyndmere-Lidgerwood in a time of 2:24.39.

The Huskies’ next meet is in Breckenridge at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
