The North Dakota State College of Science Lady Wildcats rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit in a Region 13 semifinal to climb within five points late against Dawson Community College in Glendive, Mont., but didn’t have enough left at the end in a 71-64 loss that ended the Lady Wildcats’ season.

Dawson Community College, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, advances to the championship game on Monday.

NDSCS, the No. 3 seed, sees its season end at 14-9.

DCC got off to a fast start, building a 21-12 lead after one quarter and 35-23 at the half. Trailing by as many as 15 in the second half, NDSCS closed to within 66-61 with three minutes to play, but would get no closer.

Ambuh Kowcun scored 27 points and added 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Wildcats.

The only other NDSCS player in double figures in scoring was Arthel Massaquoi with 24 points and 14 rebounds.

Zaraya March added nine points, nine rebounds, six steals and five assists in the game.

NDSCS wasn’t helped by going 5 of 23 on 3-pointers and 19 of 37 from the free throw line.
