The North Dakota State College of Science Lady Wildcat volleyball team moved within one win of the NJCAA national tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Bismarck State College on Wednesday to win the Region 13 championship.

NDSCS won 25-14, 25-23, 25-20 to win the team’s 20th match this season with only one loss.

The Lady Wildcats still haven’t lost a set against a junior college opponent this season.

Bailee Brommenschenkel and Ally Gruber dominated play at the net with 12 kills each. Brommenschenkel hit .500 in the match while Gruber was right behind at .429.

On defense, four Lady Wildcats recorded double-digit digs as the team totaled 72.

Katie Krieger led the way with 19 digs. Jalen Ennen was next with 16, Kortney Carney had 13 and Miah Gessell 11.

The Lady Wildcats also totaled 15 total blocks with Brommenschenkel getting six.

Carney, the nation’s leader in assists per set, added 35 assists.

NDSCS will host the Northwest Plains Championship on Friday.
