(NAFB) – The state of Texas recently went through a record cold snap that hit the state’s agriculture sector hard.

Carey Martin, Associate Director of Communications with the Texas Farm Bureau, says the state’s dairy and produce sectors suffered heavy losses.

The record temperatures were cold enough to damage the future produce crop.

Texas is a big winter wheat producer, and Martin hears that the crop will be in reasonable shape despite the cold.

While the exact numbers aren’t available yet, Martin says the state’s livestock sector also suffered losses.
