The Richland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-29 south of Milepost 37, around the Abercrombie-Colfax exit Monday evening.
A 2011 Dodge Journey was traveling southbound and came up on a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was traveling in the same direction, but was traveling at a lower speed due to using a spare tire on the rear of the vehicle, with the van rear ending the jeep.
29-year-old Troy Simon of Aberdeen, S.D., was driving the Journey and 51-year-old Deirdre Foertsch of Mantador was driving the Cherokee.
Simon was transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo by the Breckenridge Ambulance Service for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Neither alcohol or speed were factors in the crash, and it remains under investigation.
