Seniors lead Huskies to big 2nd half in win over Knights

The Wahpeton Huskies used a 28-1 run early in the second half Tuesday to pull away from Grand Forks Central for an 84-68 win at Wahpeton High School.
The Huskies improved to 4-2 in the EDC and 4-2 overall.
Wahpeton trailed 48-43 two minutes into the second half before blitzing Central over the next six minutes.
Seniors Bridger Hansen and Desire Munezero led the run, with Hansen scoring eight points and Munezero seven.
The 22-point lead was the biggest of the game as the Huskies cruised the rest of the way.
Hansen scored 26 points to lead the Huskies – 13 in each half. The 5-foot-7 senior also added six rebounds, two assists and two steals while getting to the free throw line 11 times, making 10.
Senior Tyler Tollefson scored 22 points and led the team with four assists and Munezero 21 despite playing much of the first half in four difficulty. The senior also tallied five rebounds and three steals.
The three seniors combined for 70 of the team’s 84 points.
Wahpeton also made 23 of 27 free throws in the game.
Mason Love led Grand Forks Central with 17 points while Mason Gravseth had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Huskies remain at home for their next game, hosting Valley City on Friday. Wahpeton will then play at West Fargo Sheyenne on Saturday in a makeup game from the postponed season opener.
