A bus driver whose bus was hit by a train in Lidgerwood was found not guilty of aggravated reckless driving.
Michael Skroch, 70, was charged after the December 2019 accident following a lengthy investigation by the state patrol.
The bus tipped on its side and Skroch said he didn’t see the approaching train.
Southeast District Judge Bradley Cruff issued the ruling to acquit Skroch after a bench trial. Mark Friese of Fargo was Skroch’s attorney and said there was no negligence on the part of his client.
Five of the 18 children were hospitalized with one of them suffering a broken back.
