Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said Wednesday night that his office will hold accountable establishments that are serving food and beverages on premises in open violation of Governor Tim Walz’s executive order on Wednesday.
Ellison said in a release that it is his job and duty to protect Minnesotans with the coronavirus still spreading in the state.
Ellison added that he doesn’t enjoy using the enforcement tools, but will use them to hold violators accountable and keep Minnesotans safe.
Of a list of approximately 150 establishments supposedly open Wednesday in violation of the executive order, approximately 40 percent do not intend to violate the executive order.
In only a small handful of instances has the Attorney General’s office determined that an establishment is openly or defiantly violating the executive order.
