Wahpeton Public Schools announced their restrictions for the 2020-2021 winter sports season today.
For varsity, junior varsity and C-squad events, wristbands will be provided for each player and the number of wristbands will depend on venue and current COVID status for the particular venue. The wristbands are for family only and due to the seating situation, visiting fans won’t be provided any passes.
The rules will cover all Wahpeton sports except for hockey, which will be determined by the Minnesota State High School League’s guidelines.
Non-ticketed events include junior high and freshmen basketball games with Wahpeton Public Schools asking that no more than two family members per player attend and leave following completion of the game. Visiting fans once again won’t be allowed to attend due to lack of availability.
Face masks are required for all attending fans and workers at the facility. There are also guidelines for seating with X’s marking designated areas reserved for fans. The east side of the bleachers are for the fans at the high school with the west side made available for teams to sit behind their team bench.
Admission will be $6 for adults and $4 for K-12 students. Exact cash, credit card or passes are the only way to pay at the entrance as change will not be made. No concessions will be served at the high school until Jan. 1 at the earliest.
Wahpeton joins Grand Forks Central, Grand Forks Red River, Devils Lake and Valley City as teams in the Eastern Dakota Conference not allowing visiting fans.
The remaining teams, Fargo North, Fargo South, Fargo Davies, West Fargo, West Fargo Sheyenne and Fargo Shanley will allow two passes per coach and player.
