Minn. Governor Tim Walz said Wednesday as part of the new COVID-19 restrictions in the state, all youth activities, including high school sports, will be put on pause for one month.

Fall sports teams will be able to finish out the week with ban taking place starting Saturday.

Breckenridge Athletic Director Chad Fredericksen said Wednesday night that the Cowboys and Otter Tail Central will play each for the Section 6A championship on Friday at 5 p.m. at Cowboy Field.

OTC was scheduled to play Pine River-Backus on Saturday in a semifinal game with the winner advancing to play Breckenridge. But with Friday being the last day fall teams can play, the section decided that the Cowboys and Bulldogs would play.

Breckenridge already played OTC this season, winning 42-16 to start the season.

The Breckenridge volleyball team will have two final matches this week, both on the road. The Cowgirls will play at Frazee on Thursday and Barnesville on Friday.

No practices or open gyms can be conducted for the winter sports prior to Dec. 18.
