Breckenridge Athletic Director Chad Fredericksen announced on Tuesday that Breckenridge will not play in the Minn. Section 6A football semifinals due to New York Mills deciding to stop all fall activities due to COVID-19 concerns.

With four teams remaining in the section for the playoffs, section officials decided to have the winner of the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley/Pine River Backus game tonight play Otter Tail Central in a semifinal game on Saturday.

The winner of that game will play top seed Breckenridge in the section title game on Friday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. at the Fargodome.

Fredericksen said ticket information on the championship game would be announced once it becomes available. Those who have purchased tickets for Saturday’s game are asked to hang on to them until the new information is released.
