Bismarck St. Mary’s drove 83 yards on 20 plays for the go-ahead field goal with 15 seconds to play, then scored on the ensuing kickoff on a fumble return for a 17-7 win over Beulah in the Class AA state championship game Friday at the Fargodome.

Each team scored a touchdown in the first half for a 7-7 tie. The game remained that way until the final minutes of the contest.

Saints quarterback Jackson Uhler was the key player on the drive, running for 58 yards.

Nick Schumacher’s 19-yard field goal with 15 seconds left gave St. Mary’s a 10-7 lead. The Miners tried a lateral on the kickoff and it was fumbled and returned for a score for the final margin.

St. Mary’s claimed its fifth Class AA state title in the last eight seasons and finished 11-0. Beulah ends up 8-3.

 

9-man championship

Linton-HMB held off a comeback attempt by Cavalier on Friday to win the 9-man state championship with a 32-24 win.

The state title was the first the Lions since 2003 and they finish the season 9-2. The Tornadoes, who also lost in last year’s state title game, is 12-1.

Linton-HMB scored the first 24 points of the game for a 24-0 lead with just under six minutes to go in the third quarter. Cavalier twice cut the lead to eight points, but never had the ball back with a chance to tie.

Lucas Schumacher had 223 yards of total offense and three touchdowns for the Lions while also leading the defense with 12 tackles.

Cavalier quarterback Brannin Cleem totaled 301 yards and also accounted for three touchdowns.

 

Class A championship

Langdon-Edmore-Munich outscored Lisbon 34-8 over the final 30 minutes of the game for a 42-28 win the Class A title game for the team’s third straight football championship.

The Cardinals (13-0) trailed the Broncos (9-1) 20-8 with just under four minutes to play in the second quarter. L-EM scored just before the half to cut the lead to 20-16.

The Cardinals then scored the first 26 points of the second half to put the game away.

Simon Romfo ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 130 yards and one score in the win for Langdon-Edmore-Munich, who totaled 342 yards of offense.

The Broncos were led by Jordan Sours, who ran for 165 yards and one touchdown.

 

Class 3A championship

Bismarck Century capped a second-straight undefeated season with a 34-0 win over West Fargo Sheyenne in the Class 3A championship game.

Century beat Sheyenne for a second-straight season for the title as well.

The Patriots led 24-0 at halftime behind two touchdown runs by Cade Garcia, who had to leave the game with a knee injury. Garcia totaled 142 rushing yards before leaving the game.

Defensively, Century limited Sheyenne to just 85 rushing yards in the game.
