Breckenridge ran away with their second win of the year in Roseau, Minnesota, on Thursday. The Cowboys scored all of their points in the opening half on their way to a 39-6 victory.

All six of the Cowboy scores came on the ground. Chris Nieto had half of them in a three-score performance. The senior tailback and the rest of the team’s starters were kept out of most of the second half.

Three other Breckenridge players capitalized on their offensive line’s dominance to find the endzone. Cooper Yaggie plunged in for the first score of the game, Daniel Erlandson pounded in a TD and a two-point conversion and James Mertes rounded out the scoring with a touchdown.

The Cowboys pitched a shutout in the opening half before giving up the lone TD of the game, which was set up by a blocked punt.

Breckenridge (2-0) plays their final road game of the regular season on Friday, Oct. 23 against West Central Area, Minnesota. Their final three games before playoffs are on Cowboy Field.
