The Wilkin County Sherriff’s Office was involved in a high-speed chase on Saturday on I-94 near Barnesville.

The Sheriff’s Office made an initial stop of the driver around 2:45 p.m. The driver then fled the scene, leading the deputies on a 14-mile pursuit. During the pursuit, the driver stopped several times, but then continued to evade the deputies.

Stop sticks were deployed twice by the Barnesville Police Department and Clay County Sheriff’s Department, which successfully deflated three tires. A Wilkin County Deputy then attempted a PIT maneuver to successfully stop the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody by the Wilkin County Sheriff’s Department and is being held at the Wilkin County Jail for several charges, including fleeing by as motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and reckless driving.
