Wahpeton School Superintendent Rick Jacobson sent an e-mail to Wahpeton parents on Wednesday, updating the current COVID-19 situation at the schools.
Jacobson said Wahpeton has had only one positive student case so far this school year. That means, despite Governor Doug Burgum’s change of the Richland County risk level from green to yellow, no changes have been made to the school’s daily schedule.
Burgum changed the quarantine requirements for school aged children last week in terms of indentifying close contact.
The new rule says that if a positive case and a person within six feet were both wearing masks, the person within six feet no longer has to quarantine.
Jacobson said in the e-mail that from the one student with COVID-19, the school identified 28 students with close contact and all 28 were placed in a 14-day quarantine.
