The Fergus Falls police said in a statement Saturday that two people died during a car chase with the police department on Friday.
The chase happened around 7 p.m. on Friday as Otter Tail County deputies were trying to arrest a man for outstanding warrant in a meeting set up through social media.
The man fled the scene after seeing police in the area and drove toward downtown Fergus Falls with police in pursuit. The driver ran a stop sign at an intersection and hit a passenger vehicle attempting to cross the intersection.
The impact of the collision sent the man’s car into a light pole while the passenger vehicle went into a parking lot.
Officials attempted life saving measures on the two passenger vehicle occupants, while the driver suffered serious, but non-live threatening injuries.
Names of all involved in the crash are being withheld pending notification of the families involved.
