The Wahpeton City Council met in a regular meeting on Monday.

Wahpeton Community Development Director Chris DeVries stopped by KBMW to talk about the meeting on Tuesday.

One of the topics discussed was the election voting coming in November.

Approved was a request from businesses to close 4th Street on Saturday, Oct. 3 for an outdoor viewing party for North Dakota State’s football game in Fargo. The request asked for the street to be closed from 11 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The council will hear the final public hearing for the annual budget on the Sept. 21 council meeting.

Four bids for the Central School start were received and opened during the meeting for ideas for the development of the site.

The council extended its emergency declaration for 90 days with no changed.

There will be no Chocolate-Chocolate at the Leach Library this fall due to the pandemic.

The council rejected all bids for paving of the John Randall Field parking lot as well as improvements to John Hughes drive and will take new bids this winter.
