DESCRIPTION:The Valley Troubadours invite you to their Christmas concert this Sunday\, Dec. 1\, at Epworth United Methodist Church at 4:00 p.m.\nThis is the 44th annual Yuletide offering by the 28-member male chorus.  The program will begin with traditional Christmas selections like “Good Christian Men\, Rejoice!” and “Still\, Still\, Still.”  More contemporary songs will include “Believe\,” from the movie\, “The Polar Express\,” and a jazz arrangement of Christmas standards\, “A Swingin’ Christmas.”\nThis concert marks the Valley City debut of new director John Monilaws.  Maestro Monilaws succeeds Lance Drevecky\, who retired last spring after 19 years leading the organization.\nAs a special feature the Enderlin Children’s Choir will present several selections before the intermission.\nThere is no admission\, but  a free-will offering will be received.\nThe Valley Troubadours will reprise the concert at the Sheyenne Care Center Monday\, Dec. 9\, at 6:30 p.m. \nDec. 10 the group will join the Valley Voices\, our local women’s chorus\, in performing at the annual Courthouse Carol Sing at 7:00 p.m.  The Carol Sing is an opportunity for the community to gather at the Barnes County Courthouse to sing Christmas carols and hear a few selections by the Troubadours and the Valley Voices.  The acoustics in the courthouse rotunda are extraordinary; everyone who sings there sounds like Pavoratti. All are welcome!\n

DESCRIPTION:Knights of Columbus in Jamestown is hosting a chess tournament for kids & adults!\nThe tournament is being run by JHS & JMS chess clubs. The tournament will begin at 9:30 A.M. with kid and adult divisions. Cost is $5 for adults\, $1 for kids – money going toward chess supplies and travel expenses to take JHS & JMS students to the state chess tournament in Bismarck in the spring. Prizes will be awarded for winners in each category.\nThere will be 5 rounds for both kids & adults. Adults will be on a timer (30 minutes for each competitor – rare to run out of time). Depending on speed of rounds\, we will break for lunch and finish last rounds after lunch.\nWe’re looking for a lot of people to participate in this newer sort of event in Jamestown! More than 100 games could be played at a time!
