Wahpeton, Hankinson ranked in latest AP boys basketball poll

The latest North Dakota high school basketball polls as voted on by the Associated Press were released Wednesday. Hankinson and Wahpeton boys basketball remain ranked despite some movement in both the Division “B” and Division “A” rankings. 

Following a blowout loss to No. 1-ranked Henning (MN 1A) and a 57-54 loss at Wahpeton, Hankinson (15-2) dropped one spot to No. 5 in the “B” rankings. 

In contrast, Wahpeton (13-5) moved up a spot to No. 4 in the “A” rankings. 

Devils Lake moved into the poll in a fourth-place tie with Wahpeton, while Kindred dropped from the rankings following three straight losses to Morris Area, Moorhead and Central Cass.

Division “A” (1st place votes in parenthesis)

1 – Four Winds-Minnewaukan – 16-1 (17)

2 – Central Cass – 15-3

3 – Beulah – 16-2

T4 – Wahpeton – 13-5

T4 – Devils Lake – 12-7

Receiving votes: Kindred (13-6), Shiloh Christian (14-3), Grafton (13-4), Hazen (13-5)

Division “B” (1st place votes in parenthesis)

1 – Central McLean – 19-0 (17)

2 – Our Redeemer’s – 17-1

3 – Ray – 17-1

4 – Midway-Minto – 15-2

5 – Hankinson – 15-2

Receiving votes: Bishop Ryan (15-3), New Rockford-Sheyenne (15-3), Oakes (15-3)
