Sanchez drops 45 points to break Lipp’s single-game scoring record

The Breckenridge Cowboys defeated the Hawley Nuggets on Friday night, 91-77.

Junior guard Aidan Sanchez scored nearly half the Cowboys’ points, dropping a school-record 45 points in the home win and surpassing 1,000 for his career in the process. Sanchez topped Stevin Lipp’s previous single-game scoring record of 41.

Levi Christensen scored 13 points, while Cooper Roberts and Connor Ernst added 10 each.

The Cowboys improved to 17-3 overall and 9-1 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.

Hawley was paced by Brody Hadley’s 20 points.  Coleman Hoff scored 14, Jaxon Schenck scored a dozen and Hudson Midthun added 10. The Nuggets fell to 4-13 overall and 2-10 in conference play.
