The Wahpeton Lady Huskies caught fire from deep Friday in a 72-38 home win over the Oak Grove Grovers. The Huskies scored 20-plus points in each of the first three quarters, knocking down 13 of 29 three-point attempts in the contest and moving to 8-3 in Region 1.
Eighth grade point guard Piper Nelson paced the scoring column with 19 points. The hot-shooting Husky shot 5 of 9 from beyond the arc while adding four rebounds to the box score.
Sophomore forward Claire Woods did her damage inside the arc, racking up 16 points and nine rebounds on 7-of-15 shooting.
Seventh grade guard Ashlynne Max was also in double figures with 13 points and six rebounds. Max was ultra-efficient on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and a 3-of-4 clip from downtown.
Junior guard Cambri Mauch and sophomore guard Gracie Falck combined for 17 points while knocking down a quartet of 3-pointers as the Huskies shot 45% from distance.
Wahpeton won the rebounding battle 37-26.
