The Wahpeton Lady Huskies didn’t play their smoothest game of the season Monday, but they did more than enough to add another notch in the ole’ Region 1 belt with a 55-35 win at Northern Cass.
The Huskies outscored the Jaguars 17-2 in the fourth quarter, won the rebounding battle 38-32, and committed only 10 turnovers compared to the Jaguars’ 19.
Wahpeton was led by 18 points and six rebounds from forward Claire Woods. The sophomore shot 7 of 13 from the field and 2 of 3 from beyond the arc.
Junior guard Cambri Mauch recorded nine points and a team-high seven rebounds. The duo of sophomore Ella Langenwalter and eighth grader Piper Nelson added eight points each.
Defensively, sophomore Gracie Falck led the charge with a game-high five steals in addition to her six points. Mauch and seventh grader Ashlynne Max swiped two steals apiece.
The Jaguars were paced by a dozen points from Carly Rider on 5-of-11 shooting.
