The Breckenridge Cowgirls weathered a first-half storm Tuesday, putting it all together in the final 18 minutes to defeat Park Christian in a 64-45 road win. The game was tied 24-24 at the break, but constant pressure from the Cowgirls defense led to success on both sides of the basketball down the stretch.

Breckenridge improved to 13-6 overall and 6-1 against Section 6A teams. Park Christian dropped to 11-5 overall with a 5-2 section record.

Senior guard/forward Parker Yaggie led Breckenridge with 15 points, four rebounds and five assists. Senior point guard Emily Gowin added 13 points, three rebounds and two assists. Senior guard Johnica Bernotas collected 10 points and seven rebounds.

Junior stretch center Sienna Fobb was a key contributor, scoring seven of her nine points in the opening half. Fobb drained a center three at the shot clock buzzer to stop the bleeding, before scoring a layup at the block in the final minute of the half to help Breckenridge erase a six-point deficit. Fobb added seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block to the box score.

Breckenridge continued to deploy a one-two punch in the paint. Junior center Mariah Koltes supplied six points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

The Cowgirls have risen from the ashes of a 2-4 start to win 11 of their last 13 games, earning a No. 8 ranking in the Minnesota Scores Quality Results Formula. Breckenridge (13-6) hosts Frazee (14-2) in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference rematch Friday night. The Hornets won the first meeting in Frazee, 70-64.
