The Breckenridge Cowgirls were in midseason form during the Wisconsin Dells Shootout, held Monday and Tuesday in America’s Dairyland.

Breckenridge, one of the top teams in Minnesota Class 1A girls basketball the past two seasons, won all six of its games. The scrimmages featured an 18-minute running clock for both halves and points awarded for common and shooting fouls.

The Cowgirls played several Minnesota foes, defeating Class 3A St. Laurence by 30-plus points and toppling 2024 Class 1A State Champion Goodhue, 62-32.

The event was a great opportunity for Breckenridge’s younger players to see the court. It also served as the introduction of transfer center Sienna Fobb, formerly of Wahpeton.

Fobb formed a vicious one-two punch inside with fellow six-footer Mariah Koltes. The junior tandem showcased their midrange shooting abilities and flowed extremely well in the team’s two-post lineups. Both players blocked multiple shots and altered several more.

The senior backcourt of Johnica Bernotas and Parker Yaggie led a smothering trap defense which held all six opponents under 40 points.

Junior sharpshooter Ana Spear (pictured) showed off her improved ball handling skills with some behind-the-back flare. Spear was the catalyst against Goodhue, burying three triples in the first half.

Junior guard Piper Jaehning and her freshman sister Ava Jaehning spearheaded the downhill action, getting to the rim at will and starring in the fastbreak.

Breckenridge returns to the court July 30 in a Target Center showdown against Thompson (ND). KBMW will be on-site filming for the “Cowgirl Country” documentary covering the 2025-26 Breckenridge basketball season.
