Jaguars rally to end Cowboys’ postseason run

Breckenridge second baseman Gavin Hoffert closed the season strong after being moved into the leadoff spot

The Breckenridge Cowboys fell to the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars 7-6 on Monday on the final play of the game. BBE was down 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Cameron Loe doubled, scoring two runs.

The Jaguars rallied for the victory after trailing 6-2 in the sixth.

Breckenridge got on the board in the first when Cooper Roberts doubled in a run, and added another run in the second after Gavin Hoffert walked with the bases loaded.

Trey Vogelbacher started the game for Breckenridge. The righty gave up 11 hits and five earned runs over 6 1/3 innings, striking out three and walking three.

Aiden Mueller started for the Jaguars, allowing two hits and four runs across five innings, striking out two and walking three.

Jaxon Riggs, Roberts, Paul Armitage, and Connor Ernst all collected one hit for Breckenridge. Vogelbacher, Roberts, Armitage, Ernst and Hoffert each drove in a run.

Loe led Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa with four RBIs from the No. 7 spot in the lineup. The righty went 3-for-3 on the day.

The loss eliminates Breckenridge from the Section 6A Tournament, ending the Cowboys’ season with a 12-10 record.
