Huskies turn heads at Fargo Shanley Invitational

The Wahpeton track and field team turned in a strong showing at the highly-competitive Fargo Shanley Invitational on Thursday, with several athletes hitting state-qualifying marks and setting personal bests.

Halle Miller led the way with an outstanding day, qualifying for the state meet in the 100m dash with a personal record of 12.84 seconds. She also placed 6th in the long jump with a leap of 15’10” and ran key legs on two state-qualifying relay teams.

Claire Woods continued her dominance in the shot put, earning 2nd place with a throw of 37’10.” Elise Skovholt added points in the pole vault, clearing 8’09” for 7th place.

The Husky relay teams had a strong day as well.

The 4x200m relay (Hayden Matejcek, Taylor Mauch, Hallee Miller, Addie Parker) raced to a 2nd place finish in a state-qualifying time of 1:49.65.

The 4x100m relay (Matejcek, Mauch, Miller, Parker) also qualified for state, finishing 8th with a time of 52.42.

In the 4x400m, Addie Parker, Peyton Bertelsen, Hayden Matejcek, and Gracie Falck combined for an 8th place finish in 4:36.25.
