Breckenridge crossed the bridge Monday for the annual spring Border Battle at John Randall Field. The Wahpeton Huskies won the spring installment for a fourth consecutive season, 4-1.

In a bullpen game for both teams, the Huskies received solid outings from Rylan Flack, Cayson Pinsonneault and Brayden Steffens.

Flack started and tossed two scoreless innings while striking out three. Pinsonneault fanned six batters and allowed one run across four innings to earn the win. Steffens secured the save by working around one hit in a scoreless seventh.

Wahpeton walked just one batter.

Eli Kappes had a productive day in the cleanup spot, batting 1-for-2 with a single, sacrifice fly and two RBIs.

Myles Hinkley, Aiden Hajek, Treyton King and Brayden Steffens registered one hit each. Aidan Hendrickson scored twice in the nine hole.

Breckenridge was also effective on the mound. Trey Vogelbacher started and fired three innings of two-run baseball while striking out two.

Logan Church allowed a pair of inherited runners to score, but flashed excellent strikeout stuff with three Ks during one and 1/3 innings of work. Tucker Snyder kept Wahpeton off balance in the final two innings, holding the Huskies scoreless and striking out two.

Breckenridge walked five batters.

At the plate, Breckenridge was led by Vogelbacher (2/2, RBI) and Paul Armitage (1/3, R). Tucker Snyder and Connor Ernst added one hit apiece.
