The North Dakota State College of Science baseball team split with Dakota College at Bottineau in a Mon-Dak Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
The games were played in Casselton with John Randall Field still undergoing spring preparations.
NDSCS scored eight unanswered runs in the opener to win 10-7. Bottineau answered with a 10-5 win in game two.
The Wildcats fell behind 7-2 to start the day, before digging into the bullpen for a masterful long relief outing by Carter Maasjo. The former Casselton pitcher fired five scoreless innings, picking up both of his strikeouts in the seventh inning.
Tori Uhlich stole second and third base before coming home on an overthrow into left field, tying the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the fifth. Masen Allmaras gave NDSCS the lead one inning later with a two-RBI single that dropped into shallow left.
Uhlich stole three bases, giving him 30 on the season. Allmaras went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and Stanley Belaskie tallied two RBIs in the nine hole.
Bottineau used home runs by Kayden Cey, Kaden Wilcox and Joe Plett to build a 10-2 lead in game two. The Jacks averted disaster in the sixth inning when Allmaras narrowly missed a grand slam with a flyout to the warning track.
NDSCS is back in action today with another doubleheader vs. the Jacks.
