The North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) basketball teams put on a show for busloads of students from area schools in a home sweep of Miles Community College in a school day doubleheader Monday.
The Wildcat women routed the Pioneers 83-53 in the 1 p.m. game. Maggie Westling racked up 30 points and 10 boards. Demi Van Gills chipped in with 14 and Ezrah Baker added 11.
Former Wahpeton High School standout McKena Koolmo contributed five points, seven rebounds and five assists. Former Kindred guard Peyton Gette tallied eight points, five assists and three steals.
The Wildcat men got a pair of Riley Wolf free throws to fall with 3.2 seconds left to squeak out an 85-83 victory in the 3 p.m. contest.
Wolf and Khalif Bettis each went for 20 points. The high-scoring duo could have combined their point totals and they still wouldn’t have caught up to Yohandry Ortiz, who went for a season-high 42 points in the loss.
The Lady Wildcats are now 18-6 and the Wildcat men are 12-12.
The Wildcat teams are on the road for their next two games with a Sunday matchup against Dakota College at Bottineau and the next day they turn around to face Williston State College.
