The Breckenridge Cowgirls basketball team fell to another top Heart O’ Lakes foe with a 78-68 home loss to Pelican Rapids. The Cowgirls topped the Vikings on their home floor earlier in the season to split the series.
Piper Jaehning led the way with 14 points for Breck. She was joined in double figures by Johnica Bernotas and Parker Yaggie with 12 and 11, respectively.
The Vikings were spurred by the two-headed scoring attack of Morgan Korf and Arianna Hovland with 23 points apiece. Korf was deadly at the free-throw line with only one miss out of her 11 tries while Hovland knocked down four triples.
Breck had the lead down to a point early in the second half with a 50-49 score but the Pelican Rapids free throws were too much to overcome.
The Cowgirls are 12-5 and host the 10-4 Park Christian Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a massive Section 6A clash.
