Heading into the final week of the regular season, the North Dakota Associated Press Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association released its Class “2A” poll for North Dakota high school football teams on Monday.
Grand Forks Red River came in at No. 1 after a 13-9 overtime victory vs. No. 2 West Fargo Horace. Minot North jumped from No. 5 to No. 3 after dismantling Jamestown on its home turf, 28-7. Devils Lake reentered the poll at No. 4 after sending a 1-7 Grand Forks Central team home with a razor-thin 14-7 loss
Jamestown hung on at No. 5 despite its home setback.
Wahpeton, despite a third consecutive banner performance, remained just outside the top five. The 4-4 Huskies have been receiving votes for the past three weeks after a victory over then N0.3-ranked Devils Lake, a 34-28 loss to undefeated Red River and a 35-10 win at Fargo South.
Wahpeton hosts Grand Forks Central to wrap up the regular season at 7 p.m. Friday on AM 1450 KBMW.
