No. 2 West Fargo Horace held off Wahpeton in North Dakota Class 2A high school football on Friday, snapping the Huskies’ three-game winning streak in a 41-21 homecoming victory. Wahpeton fell behind 14-0, but closed the margin to a single score on two separate occasions in a game filled with explosive plays.

The Hawks ran for 304 yards, led by a pair of scoring runs from Ty Geray. Taylor Stefonowicz threw two touchdown passes on the night and scored a third on a QB sneak at the goal line.

Wahpeton was fueled by an all-time performance from Jackson DeVries. The senior wide receiver racked up 197 yards receiving on five receptions, leaving the Horace secondary in shambles on scoring plays of 61 and 58 yards.

Bjorn Kubela tossed three touchdown passes and a pair of picks, hitting Treyton Mauch on a 10-yard slant route to help Wahpeton get back in the game. Kubela surpassed 1,000 yards passing for the season and now has 12 passing touchdowns to five interceptions.

Defensively, Mauch recorded double-digit tackles and came through with a pass breakup in the back of the end zone as time expired in the first half. Isaiah Bruechert came alive in the second half with two tackles for loss and four total tackles.

Horace improved to 5-1 and sent Wahpeton to 3-3 on the season.
