Lady Huskies finish historic season with top-5 showing at state

The Wahpeton Lady Huskies golf team saw one of the most successful seasons in program history culminate in a fifth-place finish Tuesday at the Class “A” State Tournament in Mandan. 
The Huskies carded a two-day score of 720, hanging tight with Mandan (716) and Bismarck St. Mary’s (712) for a shot at third place. West Fargo Sheyenne was runner-up at 662, while Grand Forks Red River won the title easily with a 36-hole score of 648.
Wahpeton senior Halle Miller shot an 80 on Tuesday, surging up the leaderboard to finish 12th overall. Fellow senior Olivia Hansen held strong with a round two 88 to place 20th.
Scout Woods (34th),  Claire Langenwalter (36th), London Nordick (37th) and Ella Langenwalter (79th) rounded out the Huskies scorecard in a statewide field of 92 participants.
Red River junior Ella Speidel shot a 151 to claim medalist honors, finishing six strokes ahead of the West Fargo Sheyenne junior duo of Payton Stocker and Zoe Keene. Fargo Davies junior Rose Solberg finished fourth and Fargo Shanley junior Lauren Graveline rounded out the top five.
