Breckenridge Post 53 went 1-2 at the Monte Invite in Montevideo over the weekend.
Breckenridge defeated Aitkin, 4-0, before losing its final two games of the tournament by scores of 9-0 and 8-0 to Montevideo and Anoka, respectively.
Friday’s win over Aitkin was punctuated by masterful pitching from Trey Vogelbacher and Logan Church. Vogelbacher fired five hitless and scoreless innings, walking one and striking out six to earn his fourth win of the summer. Church nailed down a six-out save by carefully working around three hits and a walk.
Cooper Roberts and Jaxson Riggs batted 2-for-4 during the win, while Vogelbacher went 1-for-4 and scored twice. Cam Nieto’s triple was the game’s only extra-base hit.
