The Minnesota Twins opened the 2024 MLB season Thursday with a 4-1 road win over Kansas City. Pablo Lopez was lights out on the mound, throwing seven innings of four-hit baseball while striking out seven. Lopez did not issue a walk.
Brock Stewart and Griffin Jax fired a scoreless eighth and ninth inning, respectively.
Royce Lewis batted 2-for-2, including a solo homer in the first inning. Carlos Correa was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Byron Buxton and Manuel Margot each scored a run in the AL Central victory.
Maikel Garcia delivered a solo homer for the Royals’ lone run.
