
The Wahpeton Huskies swept the Border Battle on Saturday at the Blikre Activity Center.
The Lady Huskies edged the Cowgirls in overtime by a score of 66-60 and the Wahpeton boys caught fire in the second half of their 65-38 victory over the Cowboys.
Breckenridge’s girls took a 39-30 lead into halftime and the Huskies controlled the rest of the game to claim the rivalry victory in OT.
Emma Bontjes carried Wahpeton with 16 of her 21 points coming after halftime.
Camryn Kaehler led the Cowgirls with a double-double, scoring 16 points and hauling down 11 rebounds.
In the boys game, the Huskies took a two-point lead into halftime in a 20-18 low scoring affair. Wahpeton exploded for 45 second half points with four players hitting double figures.
Riley Thimjon buried five of his six attempts from 3-point land on his way to a team-high 17 points. Caden Hockert and Caden Kappes each hit three triples, ending the night with 16 and 14, respectively. Ethan Manock scored a dozen while also nabbing 11 rebounds.
Breckenridge was led by Jack Johnson in nearly every category as the senior had team highs in points (nine), rebounds (five), assists (four) and steals (two).
The Wahpeton teams move on to face Fargo Davies on Tuesday. The boys are at home with the girls on the road.
The Breckenridge teams also go back to work on Tuesday with the Cowgirls at Hawley and the Cowboys at home against Wheaton.
