Both of the North Dakota State College of Science basketball teams were crowned champions of the Preseason Mon-Dak Conference Tournament. The tournament ran from Friday to Sunday in New Town with both NDSCS squads going 3-0.

The Wildcat women began the tournament with a 61-36 win over the Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjacks.

Ivane Tensaie and Arthel Massaquoi each had double-doubles in the victory. Tensaie led the team in points with 14 to go along with 10 rebounds. She also had six assists and a pair of blocks. Massaquoi hauled down a team-high 14 rebounds while scoring 11 points and swatting four blocks.

Tensaie went off for 34 points in a 74-58 win over Dawson Community College. She nailed 10 triples for NDSCS. Ambah Kowcun shot 18-20 on free throws to go for 26 points.

The tournament was wrapped up on Sunday with the Lady Wildcats winning 79-70 over the Bismarck State College Mystics. Laurie Crew was the leading scorer in this bout, ending the night with 26 points. She only missed two of her 13 shots from the field on the night.

Tensaie followed with 23 points while pulling down 12 rebounds and dishing out seven assists.

The NDSCS men started the tournament with a lopsided win over DCB by a score of 84-60.

Four Wildcats hit double figures and 11 of the players scored in the victory. Rashaun Parker led the way with 18 points.

Breckenridge native Noah Christensen led the team in rebounds and steals with 11 and three, respectively. He also chipped in nine points.

The Wildcats followed it up with a tight 74-69 win over Lake Region State College.

Four NDSCS players hit double figures once again with Khari Broadway pouring in a team-high 18 points. He sank all 10 of his free throws.

The Wildcats claimed the preseason tournament championship with a 72-69 win over the Buccaneers from Dawson Community College.

JaQuan Sanders Smith exploded for a team-high 24 points off the bench.

Micah Swallo came through for 16 points and a team-high three steals in the NDSCS win.

Next up for the Wildcat teams is a Saturday road doubleheader against Williston State College. The Wildcat men play first at 4 p.m. with the Lady Wildcats following at 6 p.m.
