Lonnie L. Halverson, 78, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, on the 30th anniversary of his son Jay’s death. Halverson was a fixture at Chahinkapa Zoo. He was known for quietly and humbly “getting things done.” Chahinkapa Zoo Director Kathy Diekman and Zoo Curator Tom Schmaltz paid tribute to their friend on the KBMW morning show on Thursday.
