Breckenridge Post 53 lost two tough games Saturday during the final day of pool play in the Wahpeton Invitational.

Post 53 dropped a 1-0 game to the Billing Upper Deck team early on Saturday, then lost 7-6 in 8 innings on Saturday night to finish 1-2 in pool play.

Breckenridge will now play in the 5th-place game at 10:30 a.m. Sunday against the Fargo Post 400 All-Stars.

In the other games, the Wahpeton B legion team plays Clark-Willow Lake at 8 a.m., the Fargo Bombers play Fergus Falls for third place at 1 p.m. and Wahpeton meets Billings for the championship at 3:30 p.m.

Against Billings, Breckenridge was limited to 1 hit by Emmit Vig as Upper Deck scored 1 run in the sixth innings for the win.

Jace Hegge started and worked 5 2/3 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run and Carter Haughen came in in relief.

In the second game, Breckenridge built a 6-1 lead in the top of the 6th. Braydon Wahl had 2 of the team’s 4 hits while Chris Nieto drove in 2 runs.

But Fargo scored 5 times in the bottom of the sixth and added the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Mason Hjermstad.
