The Minnesota spring state meet season begins for several Breckenridge athletes this week.

The Minn. Class A Girls Golf Tournament takes place at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker with Breckenridge sophomore Kennedy Schuler in the field.

Schuler earned her spot in the state tournament with a fourth-place finish at last week’s Section 6A tournament in Perham. Schuler shot 92-90 for her top-five finish.

Schuler begins the two-day tournament at 8:33 a.m. this morning.

The Breckenridge track and field teams are sending five athletes to the Minn. Class AA State Meet in St. Michel. The meet runs Friday and Saturday.

Cowboys senior Gavin Johnson will compete in both the shot put and discus. Johnson won both events last Thursday in the Section 8AA meet to earn his spot at the state meet.
Johnson will have a busy Friday with the shot put competition beginning at 10 a.m. and the discus starting at 11:30 a.m.

The Cowgirls will have a relay at state, with Grace Conzemius, Riley Finkral, Taylor Bommersbach and Parker Yaggie running in the 4×200-meter relay. The quartet finished second in the event at the section meet on Thursday.

The prelims for the relay are Friday at 4:26 p.m. The eight top times advance to the finals on Saturday.
