The Wahpeton American Legion baseball team finished off a dominant run in the Watford City Invitational on Sunday with a 13-0 win over the Glasgow, Mont., Reds in the championship game.

Wahpeton won all four games it played in the tournament and outscored the opposition by a total of 54-8.

Post 20, now 7-1 on the season, jumped on Glasgow early by scoring 8 times in the first inning. Post 20 added 3 runs in the second and 2 in the third and game ended after 4 innings due to the tournament’s mercy rule.

Wahpeton had 10 hits in the game, 2 each from Isaac Loosmore, Riley Thimjon and Tori Uhlich. Thimjon and Uhlich each drove in 3 runs while Loosmore, Gavin Schroeder and Jackson Fliflet knocked in 2 each.

The 13 runs were more than enough for Wahpeton starter Hunter Wamre. Wamre got the win while giving up 1 hit and striking out 6.

Fliflet was named tournament MVP following the game, totaling 17 runs batted in in the tournament.

Wahpeton started the tournament with a 19-2 win over Billings, Mont., and 10-2 over Glendive, Mont., on Friday as Fliflet totaled 10 runs batted in the two games.

On Saturday, Post 20 topped Williston 12-4 as Fliflet homered and finished with 5 RBIs in the game.

Post 20 has a busy week ahead, all at home. Post 20 hosts Detroit Lakes in a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at John Randall Field, then begins play on Thursday in the Wahpeton Invitational.
