After suffering their first loss to Frazee in recent memory on Saturday, the Breckenridge Cowboys got their revenge on the Hornets five days later. Breckenridge hosted Frazee in the opening round of the Section 8AA playoffs, ending Frazee’s season with a 79-63 victory on Thursday.
The Cowboys led 35-32 at halftime, but a big run to open the second half gave them all the momentum the rest of the way. Jonah Christensen took over for Breckenridge, pouring in 14 of his team-high 21 points in the second half.
Christensen was joined in double figures by Cooper Yaggie and Anthony Conzemius with 18 and 14, respectively. Conzemius also led the rebounding effort with eight.
Frazee’s Jack Courneya was unstoppable in the opening half, scoring 16 of his game-high 25 points before halftime.
It was the first career playoff win for head coach Stevin Lipp at the helm of the Cowboys.
Breckenridge takes its 13-6 record to Warroad for a 1 p.m. Saturday battle in the Section 8AA quarterfinals.
