The Wahpeton Huskies were outmuscled by the West Fargo Packers on Saturday in a N.D. East Region state play-in game at the Scheels Center in a 92-54 loss that ended Wahpeton’s season.

The Packers advanced to the state tournament with the win.

West Fargo jumped out to a 20-8 lead midway through the first and led 42-27 at the half. The Packers then used a 12-0 run to start the second half for a 57-27 lead and the Huskies wouldn’t get much closer the rest of the way.

Wahpeton senior Munezero Desire led the way for the team with 19 points and five rebounds.

Fellow senior Tyler Tollefson added 11 points.

They were joined by Bridger Hansen, Carter Hoerer and Jaxon Berndt in playing their last games for the Huskies.

Wahpeton, picked to finish ninth in the Eastern Dakota Conference to start the season, ends at 13-11 and finished fourth in the EDC standings.

After the game, both Desire and Tollefson were unanimous picks for the all-EDC team. And coach Jeff Ralph was named coached of the year by his peers.
